If your kitten passes away before the age of 2 years old for any reason, except for that of an accident, injury or neglect, I will replace the kitten with a new one of equal value.
If your kitten develops any of the above mentioned illnesses and you choose to want a replacement kitten, I will replace the kitten for another one of the same value (with the return of the sick kitten).
Certain conditions apply which will be laid out in your contract.
You must notify me within 48 hrs of diagnosis to begin the replacement process. You must provide me with documentation and the treatment plan, or proof of death provided to you by the veterinarian within 72 hrs since diagnosis.
I will require that you provide me with authorization to speak to your veterinarian directly. If you wish to replace the kitten with a new one, the sick kitten must be returned to me within one week from the time of approval from me to receive a replacement kitten. -
Maine coon cats are prone to certain health issues and our cattery does all genetic DNA testing to avoid such illnesses, however, any cat at any time may develop a condition regardless of precautions.
Every MC has a 30% risk of developing HCM over its lifetime. 1-2 grade heart murmurs in young maine coon kittens are very common and usually go away by the age of 1-2 years old. A grade 1-2 murmur is not a genetic illness and we do not replace kittens unless there is a heart enlargement or defective function diagnosed by a cardiologist veterinarian in the first 2 years since birth.
Maine Coon's with a 1-2 grade murmur go on to live completely normal and healthy lives.
If a murmur of concern is found early on, doesn’t go away by the age of 2, is greater than grade 2 and the kitten develops HCM before its 2nd birthdate, the Buyer may choose to return the kitten and receive a replacement kitten of equal value. Proof of testing must be provided.
Aub’s Maine Coon’s reserves the right to speak to the company, licensed Veterinarian or Dr. who performed the tests. -
If the kitten ends up passing away during the guarantee period and you would like a replacement kitten, a necropsy must be performed and the results will need to be sent to me for review along with the right to speak to your veterinarian.
-
If we cannot test for a certain disease or illness, such as periodontal disease, FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, etc. it will not be included in the guarantee, as these are things that can happen at random and we cannot test for them.
-
Things such as neglect, digestive illnesses, ringworm, pyometra, worms, fleas, ear mites (in other words, things that will not kill the cat and is common amongst pets), cancer, accidents and injuries (such as falls, broken bones, ingested foreign objects, abuse, animal attacks, injuries from being outdoors, etc.) is not included in the guarantee. Treatments for preventative care such as vaccinations, parasite treatment and exams are not covered.
-
This warranty is in effect from the date of sale and ends 2 years from that date or in the event that Aubs Maine Coons cattery ends business, whichever happens first. This guarantee is not transferable to other owners. Further details will be provided in the purchasing contract.
Guarantee
Guarantee For Breeders
What it covers:
-
If the kitten is found to not be of breeding quality by a licensed veterinarian after a reservation fee has been paid, Aub’s Maine Coon’s agrees to refund the reservation fee in full.
-
If a breeding cat is determined by a licensed reproductive veterinarian to have a congenital structural defect present since birth that prevents safe or effective breeding, Aub’s Maine Coons may offer an exchange for a replacement kitten of equal value.
The original cat must be returned to the Breeder intact (not spayed or neutered) at the time the replacement kitten is picked up. The Buyer must provide complete veterinary documentation supporting the diagnosis, including microchip identification, and Aub’s Maine Coons reserves the right to communicate directly with the diagnosing veterinarian and review all records.
This provision does not apply to infertility caused by illness, infection, injury, management, or any factor occurring after the cat leaves the Breeder’s care. -
If a female purchased with breeding rights has no documented congenital structural defect affecting fertility but does not produce offspring by the end of her third (3rd) year of life despite being bred to two (2) genetically healthy, proven prolific males (a “prolific” male is one that has previously produced offspring), Aub’s Maine Coons may offer an exchange for a replacement kitten of equal value.
The original female must be returned to the Breeder intact (not spayed) at the time the replacement kitten is picked up. The Buyer must provide reasonable documentation of breeding attempts (such as mating dates, paired males, and any reproductive evaluations if performed). This provision does not apply if infertility is due to factors outside the Breeder’s control, including illness or injury after transfer, infection, obesity, improper timing, stress, inadequate housing, or inadequate veterinary care.

All breeding cats from Aub’s Maine Coons come from fully DNA-tested parents and lines selected for health, structure, and longevity. Each kitten is DNA tested through Wisdom Panel or an equivalent laboratory for known genetic conditions relevant to Maine Coons at the time of sale.
The Buyer acknowledges that genetic and screening tests (including DNA panels, echocardiograms, and hip evaluations) are screening tools, not guarantees. These tests represent a snapshot in time and do not predict or prevent late-onset, progressive, environmental, or multifactorial conditions.
Aub’s Maine Coons does not guarantee:
• That a kitten will pass future echocardiograms or hip evaluations
• That a kitten will remain “normal” on any screening test for life
• That optional or future testing will not change over time
However, if a licensed veterinarian or specialist documents a congenital or hereditary condition present since birth that materially affects the cat’s ability to be bred safely or ethically, Aub’s Maine Coons will review the documentation in good faith and may offer appropriate accommodations under the terms of the breeding contract. This may include guidance, additional time, consultation with specialists, or, where appropriate, an exchange of the intact cat for a replacement of equal value, subject to documentation, microchip verification, and contract compliance.
All testing, reviews, and any potential accommodation are subject to:
• Complete veterinary documentation
• Microchip verification
• Seller’s right to speak with the diagnosing veterinarian or testing laboratory
• Compliance with all breeding contract terms
Optional testing alone does not automatically entitle a Buyer to a refund or replacement. -

Aub’s Maine Coon’s cannot guarantee the kitten will not develop pyometra. Pyometra is not a hereditary condition and is spontaneous in nature, and therefore cannot have any warranty against Pyometra. Open pyometra can be treated unless the vet feels the infection is to severe. Closed pyometra cannot be treated and usually results in the kitten needing to be spayed.

Health Guarantees, Refunds & Warranty Summary
At Aub’s Maine Coons, our goal is to raise healthy, well-socialized kittens and to be transparent about what is — and is not — covered after your kitten goes home. The following is a plain-language summary of the most important financial and warranty terms from our purchase contract. This page is not a replacement for the full contract. The signed contract always governs. -
What Is NOT Covered
The following are never covered under warranty:

• Parasites (giardia, coccidia, tritrichomonas, worms, etc.)
• Upper respiratory infections, herpesvirus, calicivirus, or stress-related illness

Insurance Is Required
Your kitten includes 30 days of free Trupanion insurance. This coverage must be activated immediately.
If insurance is not activated:
• All warranties are void
• No reimbursements, refunds, or replacements will be provided
You Must Notify Us Quickly
You are required to notify us within 24 hours of any illness, injury, or abnormal event.
Failure to notify us promptly:
• Voids all warranties
• Ends eligibility for any refund, replacement, or reimbursement
Medical Records Are Required
For any warranty claim, return, or request for help:
• Full veterinary records must be provided
• All diagnostics (bloodwork, imaging, PCRs, fecals, etc.)
• Records must show the kitten’s microchip number
• You must authorize us to speak with your veterinarian
If records are not provided:
• We owe nothing — no money, no replacement, no refund
You Cannot Be Reimbursed and Keep Warranty Rights
If you receive reimbursement and keep the kitten:
• That ends all future refund or replacement rights
All remedies are one-time and non-stackable:
You may receive either limited reimbursement or a replacement — not both.
Maximum Financial Responsibility
Our total financial responsibility is limited to:
• $150 under the 72-hour illness warranty
• $250 under the two-year genetic warranty
• OR one replacement kitten (certain conditions apply)
We do not cover:
• Emergency care
• Hospitalization
• CT scans, ICU, surgery
• Ongoing treatments or medications

Why Certain Conditions Are
Not Covered
Not Covered
-
Many of the illnesses and events listed under “Not Covered” are not excluded because they are rare — they are excluded because they are not caused by breeding and cannot be controlled by a breeder once a kitten leaves our home.
After a kitten goes home, the following things immediately become outside of our control:
• The home environment
• Cleaning products, scents, and chemicals
• Other pets in the household
• Stress level and sleep schedule
• Diet, litter, and routine
• Travel, handling, and exposure to new people and places
• Veterinary products and medications used
Conditions such as respiratory infections, parasites, FIP, seizures, poisoning, and stress-related illness are environmental and exposure-driven, not genetic defects. Even the healthiest kitten can become sick when exposed to new germs, toxins, or stress in a new home.
This is exactly the same reason no human hospital guarantees that a healthy baby will never catch a cold, develop allergies, or be injured after leaving the hospital.
Why We Require Insurance
Veterinary emergencies can cost thousands of dollars, even for conditions no breeder could have caused or prevented. We include 30 days of free Trupanion insurance so that every kitten is protected from day one.
Insurance exists so that:
• Your kitten gets immediate care
• You are not faced with impossible financial choices
• The breeder is not unfairly blamed for environmental illness
When insurance is not activated, we cannot help financially because the buyer chose to remove the safety net that was provided.
Why We Require Records and Timely Notification
We cannot evaluate a medical issue, verify a diagnosis, or determine cause without:
• Full veterinary records
• Diagnostic testing
• Microchip verification
• Direct communication with the treating veterinarian
Delayed or missing information makes it impossible to distinguish:
• Genetic illness vs. exposure
• Environmental poisoning vs. disease
• Pre-existing vs. newly acquired conditions
That is why documentation and prompt notification are required for any consideration under the contract.
Why We Limit Reimbursement
Our warranty is designed to protect buyers from true genetic defects, not to function as unlimited pet insurance.
Unlimited reimbursement would:
• Incentivize unnecessary testing
• Encourage keeping kittens in unsafe environments
• Make ethical breeding financially impossible
Our goal is fairness:
Healthy breeding, honest placement, and protection for both buyer and breeder.
