At Aub’s Maine Coons, families can choose the level of health protection that best fits their needs. Each kitten automatically comes with a genetic health guarantee, and buyers may upgrade to extended coverage for added peace of mind. The longer the guarantee, the longer your kitten is protected against any life-altering hereditary conditions that may appear as they grow. These options allow families to pick the level of reassurance they want, while keeping pricing transparent and flexible.
All health guarantee tiers cover congenital or hereditary conditions that are verifiable, life-altering, and confirmed through veterinary diagnosis. Covered genetic conditions include: Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKDef), Blood-Brain Barrier Dysfunction (MDR1), Vitamin D-Dependent Rickets, Hyperoxaluria Type II, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, Sphingomyelinosis (Niemann Pick Disease), Cystinuria, and Hip Dysplasia.
If a covered condition is diagnosed, the Buyer may either (a) return the kitten for a replacement kitten of equal value, or (b) retain the kitten and receive reimbursement of their pet insurance deductible, up to $250. The Buyer must provide veterinary documentation including microchip confirmation and paid receipts, and must notify the Seller within 48 hours of the diagnosis for the warranty to remain valid.
If a kitten dies within two (2) years due to hereditary, congenital, or idiopathic causes, a replacement kitten is provided once the Buyer submits a full necropsy report (including microchip number) confirming an eligible genetic cause of death. A $500 replacement processing fee applies to all approved death-related claims. This fee is non-refundable and helps offset veterinary verification, administrative review, and breeder-related costs, while also protecting against fraudulent claims. No additional purchase price is due after the fee is paid, and failure to submit required documentation within 30 days voids the warranty.
The warranty does not cover illnesses unrelated to genetics, including: environmental or preventable diseases (such as FeLV, Rabies), FIP, accidents or ingestion of foreign objects, dental disease, neglect, abuse, poisoning, trauma, acts of nature, elective procedures, or complications related to care. Pyometra—whether in pets or breeding cats—is excluded from warranty coverage, as it is a reproductive condition outside the Seller’s control. Breeding-rights Buyers whose queens develop pyometra may purchase a replacement kitten at the current pet price, but no refund or replacement is provided.
